Roux & Gumbo Mixes

Gumbo is perhaps the most popular food in Cajun culture and is the official cuisine of Louisiana. Gumbo is a dish that draws influences from French, Spanish, Native American, African, and German cooking. It consists primarily of a roux (“roo”), green bell peppers, onions, green onions, meat or seafood, and is commonly served over rice.

Roux is made up of equal parts flour and oil and is used to thicken gumbo, stews, or even soups.
